Another great thing to do in Rome is stay up all night and wander around. There are always people on the street and places that are open, but you get to experience the historical center with an eerie silence. Stray cats sit on the lights around the Colosseum, casting huge shadows. My favorite wee hour activity is to bring a bike (easily bought, borrowed, or rented) and ride laps around Piazza Navona. Try it!

Interested to read an article on Disneyland Paris from what I guess is the viewpoint of an American writer. Ithought the park was small, so suprised to see that it is actually bigger than the California park. Visited that one years ago, but couldn’t remember how small that one was.
I am intrigued as to whether the Paris park redevelops existing plots within the park or whether it builds on their owned land outside the exisiting perimetter to make the park bigger. Seems that the Studios section is where most of the new rides and attractions are opening – such as Toy Story and Tower of Terror from a couple of years ago. A question regarding USA parks for you: Do rooms have fridges? When I stayed at Cheyenne in the Paris park, there was no refridgerator, so couldn’t keep my meds cool. (I have to take medication when i travel). Not good surely for a family resort!
Anyway, I’m going back in June this year withShort Breaks and hopefully the fridge issue has been addressed. I also hope that Pirates of the Caribbean ride is back open. When i visited last the sign said “This attraction is closed for your future enjoyment”.!

Great article – i’m going to have to share this on twitter (@tuscanyart). I admit that i’ve never seen the Terrazza Mascagni in person, but i feel like i know it well because it’s used as one of the main images for the current tourism promotion campaign for Tuscany (”voglio vivere cosi”). In an article on the most beautiful piazze in Tuscany that i wrote here (http://ow.ly/1aQl4) I inserted a big photo from that campaign. That article also has an editable google map called “your favourite piazza in italy” – I’d love to have your opinion on that map!!

That was really very nice of you to work out a whole itinerary for your friend – it’s so much work!
As a resident of Florence, I have to say I feel that seeing the uffizi and the academia are probably not the best ways to get to know the city. Your friend _must_ make sure to deek into a few churches!! What about santa croce? If she loves art have her print out this page and bring it with her to the church:

Very true- self catering rentals have many advantages over any other type of stay in that one can control own costs, e.g. preparing own food (shopping at markets for dinner etc) as opposed to a hotel, something the cost conscious shopper was thinking.
